How Parlay Betting Works

What is Parlay Betting?

Parlay betting is a type of bet where you combine two or more individual bets into one bet. All of the individual bets in the parlay must win in order for the parlay to win.

How are Parlay Odds Calculated?

To calculate parlay odds, simply multiply the odds from each leg together. For example, if you have a two-leg parlay with odds of 1.91 and 2.30, the parlay odds would be 4.39.

If you are using American odds, you will need to convert them to decimal odds first. To do this, divide the total payout of the wager by the amount wagered. For example, if you have American odds of -130, you would divide 230 (the total payout) by 130 (the amount wagered) to get decimal odds of 1.77.

Why Bet on Parlays?

Parlay bets offer the potential for higher payouts than individual bets. However, they are also more difficult to win. The more legs you add to your parlay, the lower your chances of winning.

Tips for Parlay Betting

If you are going to bet on parlays, here are a few tips:

  • Start with a small number of legs. Two-leg parlays are a good place to start.
  • Don’t add too many legs to your parlay. The more legs you add, the lower your chances of winning.
  • Be selective with your picks. Only add picks to your parlay that you feel confident about.
  • Manage your risk. Don’t bet more money than you can afford to lose.

FAQS

If one of the legs of your parlay is a push (a tie), the odds for that leg are calculated at 1.00. This means that the leg is essentially removed from the parlay and the odds for the remaining legs are recalculated. For example, if you have a three-leg parlay with odds of 6.00 and one of the legs pushes, your parlay odds will be recalculated as a two-leg parlay with odds of 4.00.

If one game of the parlay is canceled, the odds for that game are calculated at 1.00. This also means that the leg is essentially removed from the parlay and the odds for the remaining legs are recalculated.

If you lose one game in a parlay, the entire parlay is a lost wager. This is because all of the legs of a parlay must win in order for the parlay to win.

To calculate parlay odds, simply multiply the odds from each leg together. For example, if you have a two-leg parlay with odds of 1.91 and 2.30, the parlay odds would be 4.39.

Parlay bets offer the potential for higher payouts than individual bets. However, they are also more difficult to win. The more legs you add to your parlay, the lower your chances of winning, but the higher your potential payout.
