Karl Edrew Yulo, the younger sibling of gymnastics world champion Carlos Yulo, has indisputably carved his own path to glory in the gymnastics realm. At the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines in Intramuros, Manila, the 15-year-old prodigy astounded skeptics by claiming all seven individual gold medals in men’s artistic gymnastics, affirming his prowess beyond his illustrious family name.
In Filipino, Yulo expressed his comfort and confidence in executing routines honed through relentless practice. This recent triumph solidifies his eminence, underscoring his dominance not just in local competitions like the Batang Pinoy gymnastics but also on the international stage.
With previous victories in events like the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy, Yulo’s display of mastery extends beyond national borders. He recently showcased his skill at the 2023 JRC Stars Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Bangkok, clinching four golds, a silver, and a bronze.
During the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Singapore, Karl Edrew Yulo mirrored his older brother’s excellence, amassing accolades and leaving an indelible mark, only missing the top podium in the team event.
“This is a good year for me, and I’m happy with the way I performed here. For now, I’ll just enjoy the Christmas season with family and friends before I go back to training right after the holidays,’’ shared Yulo, emphasizing his commitment to continuous improvement in gymnastics.
Beyond the Batang Pinoy gymnastics platform, Yulo’s aspirations extend to the senior level, aiming to further his achievements in the upcoming PNG.

The younger Yulo emerges as the Philippines’ gymnastic luminary following the trailblazing success of his older brother Carlos, a two-time world champion who garnered international acclaim.
“I think he’s much better than his brother,’’ expressed Rodrigo Frisco, Eldrew’s grandfather, attributing Carlos Yulo’s foray into gymnastics to his encouragement.
In another sporting arena, Arvin Naeem Taguinota II demonstrated his swimming prowess at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, securing a fourth gold in the sports fest by leading the Pasig relay team to victory in the boys’ 12-under 200-m medley relay.
Meanwhile, sisters Leila Anika and Jeanne Soleil Cervantes exhibited remarkable performances in the BMX girls’ divisions, clinching gold medals for Parañaque City in Tagaytay City.
The dominance of Karl Edrew Yulo in gymnastics and the exceptional achievements of other rising stars underscore the vibrant and promising future of Philippine sports.
