To finalize the trade, the 76ers are in discussions with a third team, as they intend to send the first-round draft pick they obtained from the Clippers. This move also paves the way for the release of veteran guard Danny Green, making room for the newly acquired players.

Harden’s desire to leave Philadelphia stemmed from his unwillingness to collaborate with 76ers president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, whom he publicly referred to as “a liar” on multiple occasions. The initial reluctance to include veteran guard Terance Mann in the trade had created an impasse.
