As the savior of Gerflor, Lao has consistently demonstrated commitment to Philippine sports, extending the Strong Group brand to the volleyball arena. This strategic decision comes hot on the heels of Lao’s generosity in addressing Gerflor’s financial challenges. SGA is the sister team of Farm Fresh, another venture owned by Lao, and its establishment marks a significant step in expanding opportunities for Filipino volleyball talent.
Lao, renowned for his ownership of Converge FiberXers in the PBA, expresses excitement about contributing to the growth of volleyball by providing additional platforms for athletes and coaches. The move aligns with Lao’s vision of nurturing local talent and elevating the sport’s status in the country.
Former Gerflor head coach Sammy Acaylar is in anticipation of Lao’s decision regarding his potential role in leading the new squad. Acaylar’s willingness to respect management’s choice reflects a harmonious approach to the team’s evolution.
