Akari, once seen with potential but now struggling to keep up, is navigating its way through the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference. Despite giving their best, Akari faces an uncertain future in the competition, hoping for a semifinal berth amidst fierce competition.
Akari’s Determination Amidst Challenges
The Chargers secured their second consecutive victory by defeating Capital1 with scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-20. However, their path to the semifinals remains narrow. Akari’s fate now largely depends on powerhouse defending champion Creamline dropping three consecutive games in their final matches.
“We need help from the other teams,” Akari coach Raffy Mosuela remarked. A win from Creamline in their upcoming matches against Nxled, Choco Mucho, and PLDT could spell the end for the Chargers. Mosuela expressed the need for other teams to defeat Creamline to keep Akari’s hopes alive.
“We would need to ask for wins (over Creamline) from the other teams,” Mosuela emphasized. With two matches against Chery Tiggo and Strong Group remaining, Akari aims to finish with a positive record despite the odds.
PVL Standings and Akari’s Strategy
Currently, the Flying Titans and High Speed Hitters lead the standings at 7-1. The Cool Smashers and Petro Gazz Angels follow closely at 6-2. Chery Tiggo and Cignal, both at 5-2, are still contending for a spot in the top four, which guarantees advancement to the semifinals.
“Our target is to beat Chery [Tiggo] to at least finish with a winning record,” Mosuela stated. Akari continues to build team chemistry, especially with two new additions this conference. Mosuela highlighted the progress they’ve made, even though it typically takes around six months to fully develop team chemistry.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat Leads Akari’s Charge
Veteran player Dindin Santiago-Manabat has been instrumental in Akari’s campaign. She delivered a stellar performance against the Solar Spikers, scoring 25 points, including 20 from attacks. Her dominance on the court, coupled with three blocks and two aces, has been crucial for Akari.

Team Spirit and Determination
“What’s good with our team is that everyone is staying patient,” said Fifi Sharma, one of the league’s top blockers. Despite facing challenges, Akari’s team spirit remains high, with everyone putting in their best effort.
“Hopefully, these remaining games allow us to showcase our hard work from the past few months,” Sharma added.
Conclusion
Akari’s journey in the PVL All-Filipino Conference is a testament to their resilience and determination. While facing stiff competition and challenging circumstances, Akari continues to fight for a spot in the semifinals. With key players like Dindin Santiago-Manabat leading the charge and a supportive team spirit, Akari remains hopeful and committed to giving their best until the end.
